Job position: Neonatology nurse

Location: Abidjan, Ivory Coast

Start date: March 2025

Duration: 12 months

Purpose of the role

The nurse contributes to the improvement of neonatal nursing care and collaborates in the start-up and smooth running of a NICU (Neonatal Intensive Care Unit) within the Abobo hospital

Key duties

• Providing specific care to newborns
  
• Contributing to training the staff on basic newborn care
  
• Collaborating on awareness-raising activities on newborn care and kangaroo mother care
  
• Collaborating with the neonatologist to set up organisational and care paths in the NICU
  
• Contributing to the start-up of Neonatal Intensive Care Unit activities
  
• Providing supervision, assistance and caring mentorship to NICU staff
  
• Collaborating in training activities for NICU staff
  

Requirements

• University Degree in Nursing; paediatric nursing degree will be an asset
  
• Specific qualification in Neonatology and/or neonatal intensive care
  
• Consolidated experience in neonatal nursing
  
• Previous experience of Neonatal nursing and/or Neonatal Intensive Care in low income countries
  
• Good knowledge of French; good knowledge of Italian will be an asset
